New R27 and new USAA/Progressive insurance coverage. Said policy includes
SIGN AND GLIDE ENDORSEMENT
which provides on the water rescue services through a third party called Compass Marine who in turn calls Seatow or Tow BoatUS. Does anyone else with this coverage have any pro or con comments?

Have used Boat US both on the water and while trailering, and they're worth every penny. Use the app and your gps position is automatically sent to dispatcher, with google earth view of exact location.

The tow captains on the water have been very knowledgeable and inspire a befuddled owner with their competence.

As far as Progressive, might wanna check these reviews.

Just sayin......

I have the USAA/Progressive insurance but I buy my own Boat US policy. I know the local Tow Boat US operator so that is certainly a factor in my choice. That being said, Progressive treated me right when Ladybug, Too got hit by lightning. The tab was in excess of $23,000 and all I paid was my deductible. Very pleased with their claims processing.

I'm a long-time USAA member and have used their Progressive Boat insurance. I've had good service, no problems but also no claims in the 10+ years I've insured boats with them. Their policy is often criticized as not a 'boat' or 'yacht' policy which should include things like fuel spill liability, etc.

I've read my policy...it DOES include fuel spill cleanup to the gov't max ($800K+ liability), coast cruising out to 75 miles and everything BoatUS says their policies include.

I've thought going with BOATUS sounded like a good idea and have requested quotes every 2-3 years to see if they have become competitive with Progressive. For the boats I've owned, using them in GA and FL coastal areas, BoatUS has NEVER come close to the low cost of my Progressive policy.

A few months ago I reviewed my Progressive policy for on water towing. It appears to me to be a 'reimbursement' type benefit rather than 'pre paid'. The savings of Progressive over BoatUS, for me, would by a SEATOW membership.

Finally, I'm not familiar with Progressive's Sign and Glide.

Fair winds,

There is another tug owner out there who had the Progressive tow insurance as an add on. My memory of the conversation was that it was an option and that after further investigating it was marginal and Boat US was a better and more comprehensive deal.
Although I have not had a claim directly on my policy. I had an auto incident and the other insured was Progressive and the claim was handled expeditiously. I use Progressive on my boat and I get it through USAA. I suspect that they have a working relationship and it seems like it is also a "special" number for the USAA people. When I call they seem to bend over backwards. Hopefully I will never have a claim, but if so, hopefully the friendliness and cooperation is the same.

I've carried home, automobile, motorcycle, umbrella and boat insurance thru USAA since 1970. Not all items, all the time, but always have had something insured with them. Most of the time, when USAA started partnering with Progressive, I found Progressive to be great economically. At times, I've wandered to BoatUS for boat coverage. Loaf'N is presently insured with BoatUS. I can't recall ever making a boat claim with either company. I think the reason, I have BoatUS coverage now because of agreed value coverage.

I had Boat U.S. insurance on my last boat. I had to make a claim and the next bill I received went up enough to cover the cost of that claim, and then some. I dropped them immediately. Insurance is not credit, which is how Boat U.S. was treating it. I do use Boat U.S. for towing and have no complaints on that front.
