Good evening,
Just to be sure, the prop nut is right hand thread, correct? Anyone use heat to help break it loose?

Thanks,
CN

Yes, the prop nut tightens to the right. Righty, tighty, lefty, loosey. You should not have to use heat to remove the nut. You might need a prop puller to remove the prop.
Cheers,
Karl

On mine, I have a pin holding the nut, which I have to remove before I can turn the nut.

Thank you, gentlemen. With the cotter pin removed, that nut is TIGHT. Is it acceptable to put the trans in gear to keep the shaft from turning? Of course, I’m trying to do this in the water with the boat on a hydra-lift...

CN

After removing the cotter pin to get access to the nut block the prop from turning with a piece of 2x4. It shouldn’t be too difficult to remove the nut after this.
Cheers, Karl

Thanks again Karl. I had tried the 2x4 trick, but still no joy. I’ll be pulling the boat to wrestle with it on the hard. Less chance of losing the key too!

CN

We’ll, the nut is off but a C-clamp puller isn’t budging the prop. Any further tips or tricks? I’ve tried penetrating oil and heating the hub...
Thanks AGAIN,
CN
