Do most folks trailer on the roads and travel on the water with their propane gas grill attached on the side or stern rail? Any problems with this location? Sure would be easier than transporting the grill in the cave and reassembling on every trip. Thanks for the assistance - Bill

We have ours on the swim step railing. We were BBQing a couple weeks ago and we had a marinated brisket with a lot of fat on it and there were flames rolling out of the BBQ, even from underneath. I was sure happy that grill wasn't anywhere near the fiberglass. If you do put it on the transom railing, you have the option of standing from either the swim platform or the cockpit. I've seen them set up both ways.

We have an R-27 and use it on the stern rail with the front facing the water. I remove the seat cushions to prevent any splatter from soiling them. I find it neater and easier to stand and use the grill from the swim platform. We keep it set up all the time while cruising and therefore felt it would be in the way of maneuvering dock lines etc. while docking, so the stern seemed to be a better choice.

I've had ours mounted facing the swim platform as well as into the cockpit....either way it remains in place while we're boating. If we trailer our boat short distances (100 miles or less) I'll leave it up otherwise I'll stow it in the truck bed. I lay a dedicated grilling towel over the cockpit seats while grilling and stow the towel in the propane storage locker.
