I was checking out the propane locker on our 2025 r-29 CB because it seemed as though we weren't getting full flow. I discovered three things I wanted to change. It did look like the hose coming from the locker was somewhat pinched and crimped, there was water in the locker causing rust stains everywhere, and there was adequate room for a third tank where the gas can goes. (Our tender is electric motor). I got to work. I removed the locker from the deck and saw that although there are three drain holes in the bottom of the locker, they weren't working well for a couple of reasons. One, the base that contains the tanks was trapping water and two, the locker sat so close to the deck (it sits on 1/4" Teflon pads) that it looks like water was actually ENETERING that way during periods of heavy wash on the swim platform. When I reinstalled the tank base I raised it by setting it on some SS washers that I caulked in place. Also, I epoxied some 1/2" aluminum U channel under the locker itself to raise it up off the deck by a full 3/4" now. I made a new hole in the back of the locker that lines up with where the hose exits the transom and rerouted the hose to eliminate the crimp. I patched up the two unnecessary holes with some epoxied on scrap styrene, Finally, I made a marine grade plywood insert to hold the third propane tank in the old gas tank location. We get full propane gas flow now and the drainage issue has been greatly improved. The extra propane capacity is nice too! 😀
