This is to rekindle and earlier thread. Can Tugnuts who have the Lehr propane outboard weigh in on their experience? The reviews are all over the place, which makes me think the product is not ready for primetime. Good idea, though.

Thanks.

I have a 2 1/2 Lehr for the dinghy on my 25SC. I have had it for 2 seasons and just love it. Light, starts easy and best thing, i don't have to carry gasoline on the boat.

We also have a Lehr 2.5 hp outboard. We purchased it last spring and it has performed flawlessly since. We also echo the thoughts of the previous poster.

We are considering the 5hp Lehrr as a kicker for the dingy as well as the tug (25sc). Has anyone experience with that
larger model?

I thought they were a great idea like you and immediately researched how I could carry them for our customers to purchase. I sold two and had calls within a week from both. One asking to return it so he could buy a gas and the other asking how to fix some problem with the canisters. Not sure they will see this post but I'm sure they will chime in if they do. Needless to say, we no longer carry the Lehr outboards. I hope they address the issues because I think the idea fits our boats perfectly.

I should have specified that both were the 5hp and both had problems running. Sounds like the 2.5 has worked great for those who have it on here which is encouraging.

Interesting. It is the reviews in Westmarine for both the 2.5 and 5 hp that are pretty scary. Seems like such a good idea, though.

I purchased my 2.5 at our local west marine store and have used it extensively. No problems. Starts easy and the best part is that you don't feel like you are going to drop it overboard while installing it on the dingy. It's quite light. Don't expect to get anywhere quickly however.
