Recently, I have been unable to us my stove as I get no propane to it. When I accessed my propane compartment on the swim step, it was a real mess. I've ordered a new regulator and gauge. However, i anticipate that the solenoid may also be bad. I'm also curious as to what controls the on/off of this solenoid. Your input would be appreciated?

As a side note, I find the location of the tanks to be frustrating. I've tried everything short of stainless steel tanks to limit tank rust but have had little real success. I'm in salt water full time. Am I alone here? What solutions have other come up with? Can anyone recommend a good SS tank?

I believe a 5gal fiberglass propane tank exists but it's shape may not fit in the locker. My solution to the rusting propane tank issue was 1) custom fit some rubber vehicle floor mat pieces underneath the propane tank to soften the ride for the tank and prevent paint chipping/cracking 2) spray flexseal paint around the base of the tank as additional barrier from salt water, touch-up annually.

I have to admit that I've owned my cutwater for multiple years and yet was unaware that the gas indicator in the galley was more that just an indicator, it was a switch. Not until I read a previous post on the subject, did I realize this. Had to go down to the boat to verify. It all makes sense now 🙂 And we'll be safer in the future too.

With regard to the topic of the tank holding area: When I bought my last tanks, I made a point of using car undercoating on all of them prior to installation. While it improved the outcome for awhile, the end result is rusty tanks. I like the floormat idea, I'll give it a try as well.

Agree with the repainting. We wire brushed the rust before applying several coats of Rust-oleum Stops Rust spray paint. When the tank just gets to bad to look at without cringing, I buy a Flame King 5 pound replacement tank. About $65 at Home Depot or Amazon.

Can you tell me where the Solenoid is located? I have a 2016 30-CB and can’t get my stove to work and suspect I need to find that solenoid.

I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks in advance

Where is the gas indicator located? Back at the tanks? I have a gauge that is connected to the LP tank, but it’s not in the galley Is that is?
