Good morning! I'm looking for some advice on removing the propeller on my 21-EC. I've got some dings in the blades that need to be fixed. I've never removed the prop. Any advise?

thanks

Karl

Hello Karl,

I've removed the prop on the R-21 a few times. First step is to remove the zinc, then the cotter pin for the prop nut, then remove the prop nut. We purchased a gear puller from a local auto store to remove the prop. Shouldn't take any longer than 10 minutes to remove.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
-Kenny

Hello Karl,

Look here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8enody46-xg) for a vid on the basic procedure.

I use a C-clamp style puller like in the vid above. The one I have i like a lot...it is a PRO-PULL brand, model PPF-101. It works good on our sized boats and fits shafts up to 1-1/8". They are sold in several online retailers.

Be careful, take note to leave the shaft nut ON (engaged onto the shaft by several threads) because when the prop breaks loose, it will come off with significant force and you don't want all those sharp edges getting too "up close and personal." Plus, you don't want any MORE dinged edges.

Good luck,

David
