What should the "normal" engine temp be when cruising at approx 2700 rpm? And at 3000 rpm?
I have a Yanmar disel 220 hp.
Thanks!
Phil

Phil, I don't have your engine or even the same model boat. First place I would look is the engines manual for "normal" operating temps.
Search a prior thread for an R29.

In general, it's my understanding that you should probably see between 175 to 195 degrees at 2700 rpm. At higher RPMs the temps will rise by a few degrees. There is also the issue of the difference between what your particular sensor will read/display and the true temp of the coolant.
Once you determine what is the normal operating temp for your boat at several different RPMs then you have a baseline for what an unusual temperature would be.

Hello Phil,

You actually have a 260 HP Yanmar diesel. The proper engine temperature should range from 190-200. I have seen some run a bit higher depending on water temperature but this is the range I see most with the Yanmars.
