Subject: Protecting sensitive equipment on R29 CB stb cockpit locker
Toward the rear up against the hull side of the starboard cockpit locker is a bunch of cables that connect to electronic boxes which I believe are associated with the auto pilots 'brain'. I will take a photo later and post it to be clear about what I'm trying to explain here.
Here's a photo of the auto pilot's 'brain' box that I captured at the factory as my boat was being built. The cables have not been installed at this point. However, hopefully this gives you a better idea of where this 'brain' box is located.

I'm assuming care should be taken to avoid any stowed items in this locker to be secured from pushing on the cables for fear of dislodging them and causing electrical connections to the box 'brains' being compromised.
My approach to this is to build a wooden/starboard shield that would surround and protect the cable area from stowed items moving about and causing problems.
In addition to this as I do not have a Genset installed. This opens up a nice storage area immediately below the transom and aft of the engine area. This area is accessed by removing a hatch at the aft of the cockpit's center engine hatch and below the transom's flip seat. For installing the Genset Ranger Tugs installs a tray for the Genset to sit on. This tray has a small vertical lip on its fwd edge that faces the engine area. Thus, if I were to stow items on/in this tray there's a danger the items could be pushed or slide over the small lip into the engine area and importantly the area having the rotating prop shaft when under way. I will be adding more vertical material to this lip to avoid this from happening. Not having the Genset opens up this very nice spot for extra storage. 😀
Have others with the R29 S/CB given any thought to the above and if so, what did you do or what have you considered doing if you agree something should be done ? Thanks.
