Greetings,
We are picking up our new R27 in May and spending a few extra days cruising the PNW. We are interested in hearing what PNW Ranger Tuggers recommend as a must have and nice to have items on board. What's on your list? Thanks.

If you cross over to the Cbrats website(linked to Tugnuts) they have lots of threads on this subject. Dr. Bob(Thataway) has also made excellent lists for a first aid kit and a ditch bag. As well threads on foods that store well for cruising, spare mechanical parts, tool kits, safety items, etc.

Regards, Rob

Here are a few of my must-haves:

Dinghy
Inflatable PFDs for adult plus non-inflatables for any kids
Bucket
Big boat sponge (great for cleaning up water in the cockpit and washing)
extra lines and fenders (I like to have enough for both sides)
Coffee making gear (super important 🙂 )
Fishing gear if you like to fish
Non-skid place mats for the table
Non- skid shelf liner for galley cupboards
Those extra large, extra strong blue clips that clip on rails for drying towels, etc
I love my DeLorme InReach for keeping in touch with family and friends!
Small bins for helping to organize storage in galley, larger bins for lazarettes
Large command hooks - I use them to hang things up forward
Copy of the Marine Atlas, volume 1 - it's a great resource for planning trips and keeping an eye on the big picture while underway
Current copy of the Wagonner Cruising Guide and a current copy of Ports and Passes
I like the square Corel dishes because they store so well with no wasted space
Nesting pots and pans with detachable handles
Spare fuses
I assume you have radio, navigation equipment, etc
A Bimini cover or other cockpit enclosure is great for sun and rain

I could go on and on... 🙂. I carry a kayak for fun, a dinghy for utility. A barbecue is always great too!

Smoked salmon from B and E meats. By far the best ever, and being a native, I've tasted a bunch. Within walking distance of Des Moines Marina. Kenny Marrs turned us on to that place when we took delivery of our 25 last month.

Not from the N.W. But we liked to have our propane grill, a couple chicken thighs, a thin steak if you do meat. We carry tin foil to place veggies, asparagus or brussel sprouts with some olive oil and some Weber grill seasoning. Potatoes wrapped in tin foil with coated with some olive oil are fun. We usually carry onions and canned potatoes, baked beans, tuna fish in cans. we pack relish, and whatever else you want add to make a decent tuna fish salad. We always have saltines to put the tuna salad on as to void the carbs of bread. We usually carried some hard boiled eggs. Great snack while traveling. Pick up veggies at the local farmers markets. If your going up as far as Salt Spring Island at Ganges there is a nice farmers market and also at Bellingham. We always travel with a decent 65 quart cooler with a tray to keep some items from getting water logged. Use block ice as it will last longer. The cooler also serves as another decent seat nice if you spring for a cushion top snap on seat for the cooler. The cooler is a nice item for overflow items such as beer and wine. Carry something a little stiffer if you catch a chill. Cheese and crackers make for a happier hour/s. Tough thicker plastic beer or wine glasses are nice to avoid cleaning up glass. We carry a internet hot spot from Verizon. The Waggoner guide book for the area was invaluable. If you get the chance you can score on sugar, and other condiments like mayonnaise and ketchup and mustard in little squeeze packets that I think last forever and don't take up a lot of space. Rain gear and sweat pants and a hooded sweat shirt or two can't hurt. Quarters for use in the showers and laundry if you intend to do laundry. Laundry soap, Dawn foam dish detergent. so extra water. ETC.
