Does anybody know where the source of power is for the quarterberth lamp in an olde (2007) R25? Mine went out sometime ago, and I can't figure out how it is connected. I've checked every fuse on the boat that I can find. All I can see is that the wires go into the liner wall on the port side. I suspect they either come in directly from the battery bank, or perhaps off one of the harnesses that goes further forward. If I have to I'll break out the ohmmeter and start tracing it down, but if anyone's been there already (or Andrew in his great wisdom) it would save a lot of time. Or I could just leave it as a "cave".

Hmmm... The socket on those lamps are a bit iffy and a known good bulb can act like there is no power because the socket does not make electrical contact... Perhaps you know you have no power on the wires? Or assumed?

No experience with an 07 but as far as the wires to the Port side lamp, they should route over to the breaker panel for 12v DC, on the side of the helm station - cabin breaker... Now the question is did they route both wires together ( +12 and common) or send the common off on another mission somewhere else... Anyway, use a voltage tester with needle probes or just nick the insulation and be sure you have no voltage before chasing off after the wires - if you did not already do that...

To follow up on this for the benefit of others, based on the advice here I pulled the connectors off the wires and verified that the fixture was getting juice. Ergo, problem with the socket. I took the fixture out (I had figured this would probably be necessary anyway, that's why I decided to go ahead and pull the connectors off) and took the socket apart, and basically found that the interior of the socket was corroded and the contacts misaligned. I replaced one of the wires with a piece I had from an in-line fuse socket, cleaned things up and put it back together. The light is now working again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
