We are considering a leisurely, sightseeing trip from the Mackinac Bridge, Michigan area to Quebec via the Trent-Severn, St. Lawrence River to Quebec, and return. Any advice/suggestions, stories about time needed, distance, etc. would be wonderful. We have an R27. Thanks!

Do the Rideau Canal and Ottawa, the light show in Ottawa is terrific as well as the fireworks on the weekends. The locks on the Rideau Canal are all hand operated as well as the some of the swing bridges.

Rideau canal is nice but 45 locks from Kingston to Montreal. If you do the St.Lawrence Seaway there are 7 locks between Kingston and Montreal and you'll travel through the 1000 Islands en route. There is an annual Construction holiday in Quebec and many other businesses follow suit, usually the last 2 weeks of July. If you travel either the St.Lawrence or the Rideau you can expect greatly increased boat traffic during that period.
