Question about adding generator to used boat.

Can anyone give me a ball park estimate as to the cost of a Mase Generator with install (2.5 kw or so ) on 25 or 27 Ranger?

If you do some shopping you will find 5500.00 to 6500.00 average for a generator 3.5 KW. Muffler, hoses, wiring, thru hull, strainer. and misc. parts figure 1000.00 + Labor if you are having a marine facility do the install figure a minimum of 110.00 Hr. If the installer is familiar with Ranger the labor rate may be lower. If not I would estimate between 15 hr to 20 Hr install labor. I would figure 8000.00 +/- 500.00.

I added a NexGen generator to our then new-to-us, 2015 Cutwater 28. This was in 2017 and the total bill was about $15,000.00. The install was very professionally done in Bellingham, Washington using the same components and parts used by the factory, at my insistence. Two of the techs were actually former Fluid Motion employees. I was very happy with the work, but it’s not cheap. I would highly recommend taking a look at using the NexGen in lieu of the Mase. NexGen has more capacity, quieter, very good parts availability, and good reputation for reliability. It also utilizes a bulletproof Kubota motor. All just my opinion, so take that for what it’s worth... :-}

I agree with RedNuke I would not install a 2.5 Mase. The 3.5 NexGen is the way to go. If you shop around you can find them for around 6500.00 + shipping add another 1000.00 if you want it in the sound box. In a R25 or R27 assuming inboard I would go with out the sound box because of room and ventilation in the compartment . Just my opinion.

Well,I am a huge Kubota fan so NexGen sounds like a good way to go. You guys have given me a lot think about. Appreciate the responses.
