I’m new to an R29 that came with a torqeedo. I e got a few questions...

1) do yo rinse the motor after each day of use or after each trip or not at all?

2) do you leave the tiller arm and battery connected overnight or do you remove each night?

I operate in saltwater. I do tilt the motor up and out of the water after each use.

Thanks.

Hi we rince the motor off after each day if we can. In a marina we would pull off tiller and battery at night, in an anchorage most likely will just leave it together. Try to tilt it up but sometimes forget 😀

I have owned a Torqeedo for about two and a half years and have never had to rinse it off. I do wipe it down so that i do not get water in my tug. And I take it apart each time to return it to the cave. Also it is easier for me to put it on the dinghy piece by piece.

I have really enjoyed this motor. I've not had many gas motors but this electric motor really suits my wife and me. The only thing that has broken on it has been the sheer pin and that was because i went into eel grass.

Good luck with your cruising. Stay safe.

I don't always rinse it off, but do when fresh water is easily available. I never leave the motor mounted or dingy in water when overnight when anchored. I figure if I had to pull anchor and get out fast I don't want to be fooling around with my dingy and motor.
