Hi All,

The sink faucet on my 21EC failed (in the closed position, somehow, not too useful that way) and I couldn't figure out how to get it apart to fix it, so I started looking for a replacement. I couldn't identify the original, but did find a faucet that is a superb replacement. It has a tall curved spout that leaves room under it to fill a pan or glass easily, and the cool part is that the spout rotates and can fold flat, right down into the sink, leaving room for the mate's cushion over it. I'ts as though it were custom designed for that boat. I don't know how to post photos to the forum, but if you look on Amazon, and put in MASO water tap (maybe adding 360 deg on the end) you will find it. Sixty five bucks, but what the heck - it's a boat.

It took some work to find, as Amazon insisted on searching for mason rather than maso. Did you get the cold water one for $65 or the hot/cold water one for $69? It looks like the cockpit faucet that is on my 27OB. Good find.

Jim,

Cold water. All my humble 21 ec has. Expensive, but seems of good quality. Solid brass with nice chrome plate.

Thanks for posting this. Can you let us know next boating season how it is holding up what with the folding aspect concerning me. We LOVE our 21 EC and every time we go out we come up with a few new ideas to make her work best for us. Just spent three glorious days boating and camping on her and decided the next project is replacing the Sunbrella cockpit cushion covers with vinyl covers for easy wipe off. It will greatly improve our morning coffee routine to not have wet seats due to PNW morning dew. We will sew these ourselves and post once we do.

If I recall correctly, the faucet on my 2016 R21 EC had the collapsable fold-down sink faucet model. Out of interest, what model year is your R21 EC ?

We ordered that MASO for our 2001 Ranger "Martini" 21' open launch. Bought it through Amazon and was a bit disappointed that it took quite a while for it to be delivered but it was well worth it.

Very solid faucet and folds down out of the way.

Right next to the sink bowl, we also added an Osculati Doccia shower (Defender) that slips down into a very nice SS cover to keep it out of the way until the shower is needed. Plumbed right into the same 1/2" cold water line. (No hot water).

For both, we just clipped off the threaded hose ends, and tapped them into a 3/8" to 1/2" nylon barb fitting.

UPDATE ON THIS FAUCET:

I raved about his very nicely designed faucet back in October but now I'll be posting on Amazon where I bought it, a "one star" out of five.

The faucet looks really good and works well but after a bit over one month of use on our Ranger "Martini" open launch, the faucet has some pitting in the chrome right down to the brass tubing. I went back and took a look at the Amazon ad for it and it definitely states that it is a RV/Marine faucet.

Yes, our marine use is in an open boat (has a full canopy) and this canal is close to the salty Gulf of Mexico, but this faucet should not have already started pitting. The chrome is way too thin for a real marine application. Since the boat can only go 5 knots, there was no spray of seawater involved.

I'm going to apply some heavy paste wax and hope that this defers further pitting. I really like the design and the workings but it is not as advertised. It was pricy compared to others.

(My rarely invoked rant...)

I bought the following one several years ago...
ITC 97260-3.5CP
A google search will find it.
So far works great in my 21EC
It appears to be the same one used by the factory in later models.

As the one who originally recommended this faucet I am sorry to hear of Bob's experience. This sounds like it could be considered a "defect in material or workmanship". Perhaps they would give you a new one.

Hi Larry,

No worries about the recommendation on the faucet. After I do a review on Amazon in a couple days, I suspect that they will send me a new one.

This just might have been a manufacturing defect where the chrome was applied way too thin.

The faucet really looks and performs great. As noted, I just cut off the normal hose end and inserted a nylon 3/8" to 1/2" connector to hook it up to the boat's water system.

I'll report in the results...Thanks, Bob

PS: In case the members missed it, I posted three quick photos of our little yacht in the Albums section, page six. More detailed photos to come. Tons of modifications to "Buttercup"...

PPS: I read that the R-21 with the same 20 HP engine would do about 9 knots. This little boat will get up to about 5.5 max and that's about it. We are using her strictly as a local canal boat, not for the IntraCoastal so cruising at 4-5 is more than enough. That huge rudder really makes turning easy using it with a big blast of prop/RPM to swing the stern around.
