Subject: R-21EC SpeedSeal Life -- this I like

Installed my SpeedSeal on my R-21EC Volvo engine today. All done in 5 minutes. I suspect replacing the impeller will take me no more than 10 minutes at best. This is a far cry from the time it took for my R-25. 😀

Oh, I do like my SpeedSeal Life. It's so easy to check as part of the 'getting ready to leave the dock' process. The two thumb heads are easily loosened (not removed) and the brass facing place slides away to reveal the impeller. This makes impeller inspection a VERY quick task and takes no longer than 2 minutes of my time. Very happy with this SpeedSeal Life product. 😀

Ditto. It’s a must have 🙂

Hey.

Who did you order your speed seal from?

This has to be the single best advantage over ALL other Ranger Tug models. 🙂

"SpeedSeal Life" sounds like a real time-saver while checking for impeller wear. Which engine did you order this part for? Hopefully, It"ll work on "ALL" R-21 / EC's / etc. Like the auto industry, most aftermarket parts are bought & sold by outside vendors. Is this item ordered as a part or Kit?

I could not get the speedseal to work on the Volvo D-3 - Bill

Bill J, The SpeedSeal wouldn't fit your engine # D-3? Or, did you mean D1-30 ??? Is your RangerTug a R-21EC ? If it is a
R-21EC, then the engine # begins with D1- not D-3. But, then again, some of the larger RangerTugs have a D3 engine but not a D-3 engine. Volvo Penta doesn't make a # D-3 engine. So it's got to be a similar engine number that SpeedSeal won't fit. Is your Diesel engine a Volvo Penta? If so, then which engine do you order your parts for?

Barry,
I ordered mine this morning. The only bummer was my built in fraud protection for overseas charges.
It’s all cleared up and should ship today.

Hi R.W.Z. What was the SpeedSeal-Life P/N ordered for which Volvo Penta engine number 😛 :?: ? Please let us know if the installation and ops ck went smoothly. :?:

Hi guys: I have just ordered mine from Alex in the UK. Still waiting on it to arrive due to 'snail mail' from the UK. When I get it and have installed it, I will let you all know the result. From all reports, it should work well though. For information, my engine is the 3YM30 Yanmar and the sea water pump is a Johnson F4B-903 model. Regards

I just sent them an e-mail with my engine info: Volvo D1-30F. They have shipped the parts and I have them installed. Extremely easy to install. 10 minutes tops. I'll post some before and after photos and put them in a new photo album.
All done.

A tip on installing a new impeller. I think this came with the Speed-seal. Take a 6" zip tie and wrap it around your new impeller. For me it was getting all the cogs bent clockwise. Slide the impeller onto the water pump shaft lining up the slot. As the impeller goes in, slide the zip tie off. Pretty slick I thought. Don't forget to lube up the new impeller blades prior to install.
