Good day everyone. We’re about to step up from a R-21EC to a R -23 and we’re very excited. As I was taking a tour of the 23 the other day I noticed on the back side of the door that closes for the shower there is a 3 inch wide full length piece of canvas attached with Velcro. No one at the dealership could explain it’s purpose. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Karl

“Privacy”.

Sorry. It’s a 3 inch wide strip of canvas. No way it can provide any “privacy”.

It is indeed for privacy. The strip has a velcro mate strip on the wood door, and it also somewhat affixes to the 'carpeted' wall of the head. So people can't peek in between the gap of the door and the bulkhead.

Upon delivery, this strip was situated on the door only, making it's purpose somewhat unclear. However, once you pull it completely off and affix the right side of the strip (velcro facing away from you) to the velcro mate strip on the door, the left side of the strip will grab the bulkhead carpet and give you privacy.

We use it often, and it works fine.

Thank you Brian for the full explanation. Now I can visualize how it works. When you use the shower do you have any problems keeping water off the back of the area where the Garmin is placed? Any help how to keep this area dry would be appreciated.
Thanks

Glad it helped!

I have yet to use the shower myself. However, I would imagine you'd have to really be moving in the shower to have gotten any amount of water on the instrument access panel (assuming that's what you mean) in the head.

However, I'm on the larger side of the spectrum at 6'4"/285#, so if anyone will douse that access panel, it's gonna be me! 😉
