R 23 mystery zippers

On the mini sunshade (biminet) there are the same beefy zippers sewn around the outer edge that you would see on the larger model biminis. If there were screen panels that could be zipped in it might make a nice extension area so the cock pit door could be left open for more ventilation, bug free. Sadly the cockpit window cannot be completely opened. Those are the facts and my thoughts. So what are they really for?

We have the same zippers on our R27 and our canvas is what came from Ranger Tugs. It is my belief the zippers were installed on the canvas as standard procedure, that way they are there for side panels in case one wants to add side panels with the boat new or after the fact.

I had the same zippers on my 27 bimini for the side curtains. I refer to the sun shade on the 23 as a biminet because it is considerably smaller and would look quite odd attaching to sides and rear of the cockpit.

We include zippers which will allow you to work with a local shop to customize the top to fit your needs. Not everyone wants screens or an extension to the top as they might want to fish etc.. This will keep that local shop from modifying what is there.
