Subject: R-23's & R-27's/OB 20 hr service cost ?
I understand that the F200 and F300 Yamaha outboard engines are recommended to have a service check after some 20 hrs of use.
My question is.... what are owners of these engines paying for the service ?
I'll be receiving my R-27/OB probably next week and I'm likely to put 20 hrs on the F300 within a full month of use. So I will be scheduling a service check late September or there abouts.
There are tons of R-23s out there but just a few R-27/OB models. Thus I would expect many R-23 owners have already done the 20 hr service so there should be quite a number that can say what the cost of the service is. For the R-27/OB I suspect there are few at this time that have had the 20 hr service check.... maybe the factory R-27/OB boats have had their servicing done, so maybe they can say what the expected cost should be for the 20 hr servicing. 😱
Thanks for any responses to this question. 🙂
In my case having a Yamaha servicing shop at my Marina the servicing is performed locally. The method the Yamaha servicing shop adopts is for me to schedule the service and when the time arrives I simply drop off my boat key, they go get the boat and haul/sling it out onto their own trailer and drive a few hundred feet to their inside shop area where they do the servicing. When done, they return the boat to my slip and it's all done.... easy-peaseee, so to speak. I believe the cost to me for them getting the boat out of the water and returning it will be around $185. The 20 hr service charge will be on top of that and expect this to be around $300-$350. There are some 6 anodes inside the engine, plus a small one on the fin and a large plate on the base of the engine bracket attached to the platform. I suspect the anodes will not need changing, but maybe just cleaned up.
Thus I'm expecting the cost for my Yamaha F300 20 hr service check to be in the region of $500.
