Subject: R-27/OB and fog conditions in early AM

I'm finding one of the advantages of having the speed of new R-27/OB is that I can deal early morning fog in my area and in the San Juan Islands area which tends to linger around in the early morning hours until it gets burned off by the sun etc. With the speed of the R-27/OB I find that I can depart for a cruise later in AM after the fog has been burned off or mostly burned off and still get to my destination in plenty of time.

This was very evident last Sep 2017 when departing Roche Harbor RT annual GTG meeting. Most boats left quite early as I recall and reported later they had to deal with fog conditions, whereas we left at around 12:30 to 1 PM and all the fog had dissipated. We had a clear run all the way back home to Edmonds.
