We towed Willie's Tug into a Flying J yesterday and used the scales to get an accurate weight of our rig. Our gross combined vehicle weight is 19,620#. Our truck weighs 8380# by itself, giving us a net weight of 11,240# for the boat and trailer. The tongue weight of the trailer is 1260#. Interesting that the front axle of our truck weighs 320# less when the trailer is attached, 4440# vs 4760#.

No problem doing speed limits, and the electric over hydraulic brakes are wonderful.

What make of trailer are you running?

Nice truck! The boat is "cute" too!

I am sitting at 13,920lbs on my R-29 with a float-on trailer (triple axle) . Trailer is 1800lbs. !5gals of fuel and no water or waist.

Nice truck and boat. I tow with a Dodge also. Great truck! I just put in a banks exhaust break. It works great!

I also have only owned Fords for the past several trucks. This time, I was going to buy a Duramax with the Allison transmission. I also wanted a one ton, but it would not fit in my garage with our Jeep whereas the 3/4 ton with short bed would fit. When we actually shopped in person, we found that the Max cab Dodge made a better ride for Jake. More room for his bed and other items we needed for our trips. Besides we were able to buy the Dodge for a couple of grand less than the Cheve. The Cummings also did not need the Urea injections to meet emission regs. The exhaust brake on the Cummins with the improved transmission works great for us. I did have concerns about this until we went up and back down our first pass loaded. I am able to use the tow/haul and exhaust brake to control my downhill speed without using the foot brakes at all much as I do in my motorhome. In all, it is a good fit for us. The deciding factor though was How it fit Jake.... 😀

Off the subject - kinda

Your final decision was how it fit "JAKE" the dog !!!

When we were at Wefings [I think you have been there..

The Final decision on purchasing the r-27 we pick up next Thursday ..... Would it be a fit for Paddy

The 8 year old Maltese furry daughter

So "Little Tug Boots" was a fit !!

Oh and she fits perfectly in the Chevy Silverado 2500hd with THE Duramax

When it comes to Trucks I think bigger is better. I have never said "my truck is too big". I have however had to make many trips back and forth to haul stone etc in previously owned 1/4 and 1/2 ton trucks.
