Hello Tugnuts,

This is a long story made short, but something that we wanted to share as you might be thinking about the same issue on your Tug...

We decided that the cockpit rug that came with our Ranger 29 was looking old and getting to be more trouble than it was worth. After some research, we decided on the Flexiteek product to replace it. You can see Before, Installation, and Finished Product pictures in the Owners Photo Album. Look under "Circle T". So far, we think it looks great and are very happy with it. See for yourself in the photos and captions...

Looks really nice. Does it have a non skid surface?

Yes, it's non-skid, and comfortable to walk on with bare feet. We thought about doing the cockpit steps and the swim step also, but in the end decided not to do either. The cockpit steps often get used as seats and we thought the present surface would be cooler and more comfortable to sit on. In fact, really the only negative I read about while researching this online was from some people who wrote that the heat it retains from direct sunlight is too much for bare feet. That made the decision not to do the swim step easy. Besides, now that it's done we really like the look of the cockpit floor alone.

Also before I ordered it I took two sample pieces of just a few inches and put one in a glass of red wine (cheap red wine!) and the other in a glass of vinegar overnight. When I checked them 12 hours later there was no color saturation of the material at all. I didn't test for this, but was told that fish blood also will not stain it. If it does somehow get marked up, sandpaper will remove the marks.

We chose the black border, but they also have off-white. It doesn't match the cream color of the saloon floor though, so we went with the black. I'm hoping we're happy with it over time, as looking at the way it was glued down there's no way it's ever coming up !!

Hope this helps. Tym

Floor looks great. Sure it will wear better than the carpet. Just returned from Hawaii yesterday. Let's get together soon. Beck liked the floor too - you know what that means for me. Another project for Sea Dragon.
