r-29

Larry, I hope since your bride fell in love with the boat after that experience, that you did better on your first trial 😱 and that she'll keep you!!

Charlie

i should have stated she loved it before the seatrial. we both love the concept, need some encouragement
on the execution.

Hello Larry,

I received a call from the dealer that you had the sea trial with today. I was disappointed to learn that the steering had air in the line. We had run the boat at the factory prior to shipping it to So Cal and did not experience this before we shipped the boat. We apologize for your poor sea trial. I also know that the boat went straight from the yard where it was off loaded to Trawlerfest. I do not believe the dealer had taken the boat out prior to your sea trial. We are currently building hull number 7 which will be the first boat delivered to a customer. Our boats are extremely well built and meet all of the ABYC, NMMA and CE standards. I would certainly be happy to have you up to Seattle for a sea trial. We could also show you through the factory. Being a seasoned boater I am sure that you would be impressed with the quality and workmanship of our boats. You are welcome to e-mail me or to call me on my cell.

Thank you,

Jeff Messmer

Larry,
My wife and I have owned Solitude (R-25) for two years now. We had a few and I emphasize a few minor issues upon delivery. The way I look at it though, this vessel has a number of complicated systems in it. You are bound to have problems. Look at all of the issues they have had with this cummins engine (we have the Yanmar). The key to this situation is the support that everyone of these folks have gotten from Ranger Tugs. Nobody that I know of in the boating industry takes the pride in the workmanship that Jeff, Andrew and the rest of the crew at Ranger Tugs does.

If you like the vessel, want the vessel, and can afford it, buy it! Jeff and Andrew will be there if there are issues. Not only do these guys take care of you, I use Bob at Catalina Yacht Sales in Oxnard to service Solitude. Bob and his crew stand behind their work and results. So there you go, a Manufacturer that stands behind their product along with a great team of dealers that also believe in what they are selling. If I were going to buy another vessel at this time, I would buy an R-21. The only thing holding me back is my wife reminding me that I already have five boats and I do not need another...... anyone interested in buying a Windmill 16 Sailboat??????? I guess the magic number is five since she allowed me to get that high.....

thanks david, i appreciate yor input. i had a conversation with jeff and was impressed with him.
i know, after owning too many boats to remember the team behind the product is almost as important
as the product itself. i am out of san diego, so oxnard is a little far for me.
you have some pretty nasty seas in that area, how does your 25 handle it?

I can tell you having been the first to get an R 29 that we have had amazingly few problems , all minor, and amazing performance . The support is as good as you will find . My techs love the serviceability that is designed in as well .
Marc

The good thing is I will be in San Diego next week making sure the R29 is working properly. I look forward to meeting anyone that will be in the area!

Larry,
We do the majority of our cruising on Lake Mead. We do get some wicked wind chop on occassion. We have seen it as high as six feet. Short, steep, and close together. Solitude just keeps on going as if she has no cares in the world. The crew on the other hands usually calls it quits and retreats.
