We are taking delivery of our R 31 soon and it is time to.choose the name. Is anyone in the Ranger community using Sea Ranger or observed one? Thanks for any feedback.

Soon... when ? Will like to be there when it launches... -Barry

P.S. Have not seen "Sea Ranger". There must be a way to search for any conflict presumably, and maybe others can say how that might be done.

We are taking delivery May 4 up in Everett but will bring it into Port of Edmonds that PM. Barry you are welcome to come aboard anytime!

Wonderful news...

Where in Everett, and what time do you estimate the launch will take place ? (Dock details or launch ramp location etc ???).

Hmmm - You've chosen a good day Friday May 4th (my birthday 😀). Taking a ride with you back to Edmonds would be an awesome birthday present. 😉 ...or I can wait until you're safely docked at Edmonds Marina.

My First Mate (Gill - Gillian) would love to come aboard as well... let me know.

How about "Intrigue" or "Passe Partout".
All the best,
Bob

Hi, and congratulations!

The previous owners of my R-25 called it "Sea Ranger" but I rechristened her "Roam." You are welcome to reuse the name if you like. Here is a link to a website with boat names;

It may not be "official", but no one has yet to register "Sea Ranger."

Thank you for the information and history on Sea Ranger. So far it looks open to use again. I appreciate your response.

Since many or most Rangers are documented, you can check the USCG's list of documented boats by name, through the NOAA search engine. It's pretty handy. We use it to identify boats when we're out and about. Plug in the name and it will return with all the vessel info.

Thanks to both of you for the links to the NOAA and the Boatus registries. Very interesting and helpful.

Sea Ranger is a registered Vessel in Canada, but that won't stop you from documenting the vessel if the name is "free" in the Amercian Registries.

I envy you taking delivery in May!

We ourselves are taking delivery some time in July for a Ranger 31.

You've picked a great name

All the best with the launch and hope to see you on the water.

Sincerely,

Congratulations, looks like we will see you on the Desolation Sound journey.

I do not think it is a requirement for a registered vessel to have a name that is unique. For example, there are 8 vessels named Sea Ranger in the NOAA database. And, there are 46 vessels named Ranger. I searched for 'ranger' and received 146 variations of that name. Maybe the name needs to be unique for the homeport. Does anyone know the ruling?

You are correct. You can have a boat the same name as another.

Hi

It was suggest to name our boat Tug of my Wallet.
But my wife didn't like it.
