R21 classic cockpit step

I have a 2001 R21. There are some stainless steel keyhole fasteners on each side of the cockpit in the area of the entrance way between the rails. This clearly must have held some kind of step, which I did not get with my boat. I find the step from the deck to the cockpit floor uncomfortably long, so Id like to add a step.

Does anyone have a photo of the original step? I can build anything I need, Id just like to build something known to fit and work.

I made my cockpit steps from irrigation control boxes that I bought at Home Depot. I simply cut one side to fit the hull contour. The tops are non-skid, and inside I store docklines and shorepower cords.
Use the "extension " boxes as they are less tapered. Use stainless screws to attach them to the deck.
