R21-EC marine head with holding tank vs. porti-potti

Yes, the cockpit table cannot be stored under the V-berth with a Marine Head installed. It can however, be stored in the transom storage area. I don't know when Ranger changed the transom storage locker lids but the starboard side lid is now very long and extends from starboard all the way to the onboard battery charger box. This makes for a huge opening and sliding the cockpit table in this area is possible.

Another place for the table, although I've not measure this up so far, is for it to be placed under the engine box seating. The cushion's shape would need modifying but that is within the realms of possibilities.

I stand corrected, however, the table will be the only thing of significance stored in the starboard side of the locker due to its laying-in at an angle.

It may also be possible for the table in its canvas bag to be strapped or slung from the railing to the inside cockpit sides without too much hassle, and be out of the way. 🙂

Issue concerning cockpit table storage is solved IMO... 🙂

1) It fits under the engine box seat/cushion without having to modify the cushion nor the snap positions. I was successful in doing this. See photos below. I also sat on the engine box seating and it did not feel hard or uncomfortable with having the cockpit table underneath it. 🙂

2) I tried various positions for the cockpit table in the transom storage area and even though it has to be angled it really does not interfere too much with storage space... maybe a bit but not to the annoying level IMO. See photos below.

There's stacks of space over on the port side.

Hello Barry,

You said:

Should that read "WITHOUT having"?

You have hit upon a GREAT idea to store the flat table UNDER the motor box cushion. I may copy the idea when I get around to making my table.

Barry, you mean you don't mind all that stuff TOUCHING in the locker?!?! Just kidding  I apologize to the Board for stirring up this hornet's nest, but it looks like a good idea has come out of it.

Dave: yes.... "Without" for sure.... I edited it. Thanks. 🙂

Sometimes the obvious evades all of us... but this time we've come up trumps. 😀

Of course, another use for the engine box seat is for storing all your paper charts. There's a simple way to fold paper charts so that they can be unfolded so that they can easily be read/oriented etc. There's a link somewhere that explains how to fold them correctly for this purpose and if I locate it I will post it here.

[EDIT] Here's the link to the posting I made in 2013 on my birthday... that contains a link (YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR0brOhSB1s) to how best to fold the paper charts.

😀

Anyhow, fold the paper charts and slip them into the zipped area underneath the engine box cushion. They will be kept nice and flat. I did the same on my R-25 and used the Nav seat cushion to store all my paper charts... and nobody but you would know... you get security with this as well if ever someone with criminal tendencies boards your boat. 🙂
