I've only had my R21 for a few weeks now and yesterday's cruise brought my engine hours to 15. As nearly as I can tell, the diesel fuel that I put into the tank was either just for fun or for ballast, because this boat just doesn't appear to use any of the stuff!

The fuel gauge moved so little during yesterday's outing that I started checking the fuel tank visually to make sure the gauge wasn't stuck. It wasn't.

After looking at a lot of boats before buying my Ranger Tug, I'm especially happy that I chose a diesel-powered boat that barely sips at the fuel tank rather than the 4 to 8 gallon-per-hour gasoline-powered express cruisers that I was looking at.

Now I just need to get used to the fact that this boat gets a lot of looks. Yesterday I ran to the cockpit a few times because people were staring at us from the shore and I thought maybe we were dragging a fender or my cooler flopped off of the swim platform. 🙂

Steve - better get used to all the attention! We keep our Red-hulled "Kamalani" in the first slip on the dock, right next to a pedestrian walkway. We often think we should move out to the fringes, as we seldom get a moment's peace.

We are at the 38 hr. mark and we are averaging right at 1 gph. In our view, that's a lot of fun for the $$.
