Hi all...
We just purchased a 2011 R21, as a long time boater I have learned to never go without a back-up.
The RC21 we purchased has a swim platform, any one here have experience with mounting a light (67#)
outboard to their swim step? There is quite a few mounts for this out there but would like any advice I can find.

Thanks,

Laurie

Hi Laurie, et al: I also have given this some thought and would be keen to see anyone else's ideas on this. Regards, Stevan

Welcome. There has been quite a few posts about kicker motors on the R21EC. If I recall many people have done it and reported success.

I tried to attach a link to them but it’s just showing up at the search page. Anyway, try ‘outboard mount’ or something similar in the search box and you will get a pretty good return of hits.

I added a Puma swim step mount and a 5 hp tohatsu propane outboard...works great

Hi guys/gals: would be keen to see some photos of a mounting arrangement for the swim platform on an R21-EC. Regards

If you look in my photo album titled "Most Beautiful" I just added a photo that somewhat shows my kicker mounted on my swim step. I removed the two small fenders to make it work. There is still room for my cooler also. You'll have to wait till Spring if you want any better photos. I'll gladly take some more then.

I just added 5 more photos of my auxiliary motor mount. You won't have to wait till Spring to see them.
They are also in my "Voted Most Beautiful" album.

In regards to this subject, how many HP would be enough to get the tug moving back to safety if the main engine fail using an outboard mount?

I bought a 6Hp long shaft. Seems to work fine. It's there because my buddy refused to go if I didn't have a kicker.

Sounds good, and a 6 hp is not heavy either.

My bad. I have a brand new 4 Hp Tohatsu. It weighs 57 pounds. No problem at all hanging off my swim platform. I had to remove the twin bumpers to make my bracket work. Hope this helps.
