Howdy. New (third) owner. 2011 model. I like to tinker with things. First mod I am looking at is remote throttle on rear of engine hump and installation of (removable) tiller steering. Has anyone else done this? Locating the top of the rudder post was easy... the challenge may be fabricating a piece of hardware with which the rudder post extension I will have to develop will grip the top of the existing rudder post. Thoughts and comments welcome.

I have a cockpit helm station that I installed on my R-21 it is great for fishing and grabbing. Photos of the installation is in my photo album. The throttle control only engages the clutch to get throttle and clutch I would have to install a double at the helm in the cabin area. To install a tiller in the aft seat area is douable but you may loose valuable storage space. When I do modifications to my boat I always try to make it look like it came from the factory that way and save as much useable space as possible. Good luck with your modification, and if you have any questions about mine feel free to contact me. Bob

Not sure what your budget is, but this is a relatively simple solution and allows steering the boat from anywhere on teh boat using a wireless remote control,

I just installed one on my 2015 R21EC and if you use the search function on Tugnuts you will find lots of references to this being use on R21's some as stand alone units and some with autopilot incorporated. Just search Tugnuts for Octopus or Intellisteer or R21 autopilot and you will find more information. Good Luck

Good info about having to replace the pilot house station with a double... I had not thought that far into it.
