On my 2018 r23 on the back door from the cockpit, the big rear window that hinges up and on both the port and starboard sliding windows the black paint is bubbling up. I'm guessing that the aluminium? is corroding underneath.

Does mean that I have to get all the paint stripped off and the corrosion removed and repainted?

Has this happened to any of the other tugnuts out there?

I'm surprised that this has happened on such a new boat.

subscribed.....my 2016 C26 door frame at the bottom is exhibiting the same. Haven't researched how to tackle.......

Have the same on 2017 R-23 following for more info.

Hello,

From what you are describing it does sound like that is what is happening. In some cases this can happen from age or there was an area that didn't get a great bond during the process of getting coated from the frame manufacture. It can be something fairly easy to fix if you get it handled before it spreads. You would need to remove the bubbling/flaking area, prime and prep for new paint. Doesn't have to be done in a paint shop or with a spray gun but does help with an more even spray. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

can you post a photo I am curious what to look out for in the future.

what paint is recommended for such a fix? the bottom of my door frame is doing this
