R23 Cabin door key

I need to get a couple extra cabin door keys on my 2019 Ranger Tug. Do I need to order duplicate keys from Ranger factory or can I just get copies made for a locksmith. I am asking since when I need copies for Yamaha keys.. I only right keys that work.. from Yamaha.

I purchased a couple of cabin door blanks when I took possession of my 2021 R27. I was told that locksmiths are unlikely to have the blanks, but could cut the keys.

Was told the Yamaha key needs to come directly from Yamaha, so a bit more complex...

I believe you can order blanks from the factory parts department, and then take to any key shop.

I have had a copy made at one locksmith who had suitable blanks in stock (Ballard Lock and Key), but they are a pretty advanced lock shop. Another shop that I tried could not duplicate it because they did not have the specialized blanks.

A kiosk in a Fred Meyer parking lot (Bellevue,WA) had the proper door key for my 2015 R31-CB. He did comment that the key was rather rare and for a high quality lock.

thanks all ..been a great help. I will check first with local locksmith.. and see if they could cut a copy if I get Ranger Tug factory blank. PS It would be nice if Ranger Factory works like Yamaha. I showed them documentation of engine ownership and key number and got a copy key.

I checked with my local locksmith... although it is a Corbin Russwin lock... it is a unique blank to Ranger Tug.. therefore I will be ordering some blanks from Ranger Tug@ download/file.php?id=1409 and then going back to him to cut the key.

If you do a google search for Trioving Key Blank you get several options. Our local locksmith had some as well.

Our previously owned 2013 R25 came with only 1 set of keys. I went to a local locksmith (in Whitehorse, Yukon no less!) and he had blanks for both cabin and ignition right there on the wall. He didn't think they were all that unusual. I had a second set in hand in minutes.

Tks all.. will try to discuss/ pos.cancel my order to Ranger Tug ... they are selling blanks @ $25/ea)...although as as yet they have not replied to my email (with other equip) for billing info. from me.

Just ordered one blank key from Ranger Tug plus a bunch of other stuff to get ready for spring splash-received today. . Also ordered 4 blank keys for $10 plus $10 shipping from Amazon location at the same time, which I have not yet received.

I tried Home Depot and they did not have the blank for my TRIOVING cabin door lock on my 2012 R29. I then called the best independent locksmiths in Beaverton, Oregon and was told that they did not have the blank.

Ranger was out of blanks as well, so I ordered 2 blanks online from Europe Trioving at about $10 each, but the freght for 2 little keys via mail, was over $35. But what the hell, I did not want to be without a spare.

I took the blanks to the above locksmith, who thought it was interesting that I was told they did not have the blanks, and proceeded to find the blank. He said it was in his European key section, and most GOOD Locksmiths should have the blank. The number is ILCO T06

I hope this save someone else some $$$ my spares could have costed $7.50 versus over $70. But I do have spares and peace of mine.

I bought my spare key blanks on Amazon. Took a month for shipping from Europe.

My local locksmith cut them for me for a couple bucks each.

I had called my locksmith who did previous work at my VFW. He was in the area and pulled into my driveway and had the blanks and cut me 3 Cabin Keys for $5 each on the spot. I got real lucky. He said MD State DNR used the same key blanks years ago and he still had a box leftover in his van. His name is Carl in Annapolis.

I wish I could find the blanks I purchased from Ranger Tugs along with the boat! Failing that I went to a local lock smith and had a key cut. I tried the key in the lock today and it doesn't open the lock...

I took my newly cut (but doesn't work) key back to the locksmith; he trimmed it a bit and now it works and feels just like all the others... 😀
