For all you R23 owners suffering from -‘Cabinetus Lackthereus’ here is a solution for the head. Extended each shelf by 3” then framed them in and added sliding cabinet doors.
I’ve put pictures in my album.

Nice addition. Where do you find that trim (teak with oak? inlay) that matches factory?

I’m working on some additions to my galley to increase storage. Hope to be done before Christmas. Have you done anything to improve storage underneath the sink and stove? I’m amazed at how much wasted space there is between the cabinet frame and fiberglass mold. I’ve started to think about pull out drawers.

Yes I made pullout drawers. I don’t think you gain a whole lot of extra space but you gain a huge amount of convenience. Until the drawers we had everything in bins which is a pain. I’ve completed the two big drawers and am going to go after the two smaller ones next. Another thing I’m going to do is make Tambour doors (think roll top desk) for the shelves above the sink in the bow.
I’ll post pics of the drawers this weekend.

For the Cabinets the trim is Teak. When I made the hatch replacement (see my album for that) I used a old nasty teak side table that I purchased on Craigslist for $75. It also had 1.5” teak legs so I have been milling those down for trim peace’s as well as part of my yet to be made tambour doors.

We love your solution and admire your joinery work!

We solved our ‘Cabinetus Lackthereus’ by using commercially available SeaTeak pin rails on all shelving in the head and vanity area. The pin rails have proven to contain our miscellaneous items successfully even in pounding seas.

In addition, over the vanity sink, we added SeaTeak's medicine cabinet.

Also notice the addition of two 24" towel racks in the head and one 12" towel rack over the sink. The 24" towel rack on the forward bulkhead in the head has a Siamese-twin (using the same thru-bolts; between the two) on the other side of the bulkhead in the stateroom. We discovered that we can always use more towel racks...even in AZ!

Looks good Rudy. More than one way to skin a cat... (can we say that anymore? Please don’t send the SPCA after me 😀 )

At the request of Hamster, I have added another photo album on the Galley slide out drawers.
The Drawaers are 23.5”x18”x6”
