Hi folks,

Getting closer to making the plunge and getting our first RT. One question that some of you may help with....... the R23 says it comes with a cockpit table however all the pics I see, I can't see one. Can the R23 owners tell me.... is the cockpit table standard, does it mount into the floor? Any pics? Is it useful or crowds the space?

Much appreciated!

The R-23 cockpit table is a standard feature per the RT website. The web site for the R-23 does not depict the table in the cockpit as you've discovered. However, if you look at the new 2018 R-27 RT web site there's a cockpit table photo. This is very similar to what it would look like on the R-23 minus the port side fold down double seat.

I've been on the R-23 cockpit and I would say it would be useful and would not 'crowd' the cockpit space unless you're wanting maximum space for fishing or maybe a bit of a tap dance jig. 😉

The cockpit table will require a permanent chrome socket screwed to the cockpit flooring for the table's pole attachment. This may cause a person to stub their toe and trip I suppose, but I would consider this a minor issue. If a teak/holly carpet is obtained for the cockpit the a hole for the table's chrome bracket will be needed.

We took delivery of our R23 over the weekend and there is no cockpit table, nor is there a mount for one.

Then advise you call RT about this. Post back what they respond with.

The R23 that we took a ride on didn't have a cockpit table and there was no mount in the floor for one.

It seems that for early R-23 deliveries there was no standard/stock cockpit table. I can confirm this as I reviewed a local owner's R-23 delivered in Dec 2016 and it had no cockpit table. However, this owner did have the necessary chrome bracket to install on the cockpit's center hatch but had not done it at the time I was on his boat. His option was to use his V-berth table and mount it on the cockpit installed tube when needing the cockpit table. The early R-23's obviously did not come with a standard cockpit table and if one of those did want a cockpit table then the chrome tube bracket had to be secured/purchased and had to utilize the V-berth's table (and possibly its supporting tube) when required.

The website now states clearly there's a standard/stock cockpit table included. Note that RT can make changes at any time. As I posted above, it's best to contact RT about the lack of cockpit table issue.

For the early R-23 deliveries I suspect what needs doing if a cockpit table is required is to buy the table's tube and chrome bracket and a separate table if the V-berth's table is not to be utilized. It maybe that the V-berth table's supporting tube can be used for the cockpit table option as well.... so only a chrome bracket needs purchasing if moving V-berth's table and supporting tube to the cockpit is what a person intends to do.

We took delivery of our R-23 last September and there is no cockpit table or mount. Would not want one.

I have an r27,different toy, but I removed my cockpit table. It seemed to small, too heavy for what it does and I replaced it with an rei roll up/fold table made of AL. Had to shorten the legs by two inches to make it fit better and added suitable camping chairs also made of AL that can be used outside and in the cave and each of them fold in to a tubular package that can be easily stowed away when not needed without wasting valuable space. And even so this is a power boat one should keep a close eye on weight. It adds up quickly

There is no cockpit table included with the R23. The diesel version we used to offer had one but the outboard never did. We will make sure and remove it from our spec sheets. Thanks for bringing this up!

I would go the route of stwendl as well. I wouldn't want to have to stay a table top and really don't need a mount for the vberth table either.

We are happy with the configuration the way it is.

I have a 2017. Took delivery in May, and I do not have a cockpit table either.

We received our R23 in March of this year. I understand it was one of the first 2017 built. It came with the table in the main berth. The table top and mounting hardware were stored in the kitchen berth.

As someone who just placed a deposit on an R23, and noticing that the Ranger website definitely indicates that a cockpit table is included, I thought I’d ask any new R23 owners if indeed one (or at least the floor socket) is now actually included considering this post dates from about four years ago? It would be nice to have the option.

Thanks!

We had our 2020 delivered in December of 2019... No cockpit table or mount, nor did I realize it was an option?

Not sure, now having traveled over a year and a half in her, that I would opt for one. As stated, the mount would be a tripping hazard (for me, at least), and I can't think of a time where I thought "Man! I wish I had a table out here!"

But... we all use our holes-in-the-water differently!

Thanks Brian. I really appreciate the feedback. I was thinking the same but wanted some practical knowledge on the matter. If anything it may be nice to have a small 2x3 or so table... for a few evening beverages of course. 😉

We have a 2018 R-23. The “cockpit table” is made by using the center V-berth wooden platform ( which has a mounting plate on the bottom to match the pole) and mounting the pole to a receiver mounted on the center lazaret. We’ve never used it but that’s how you make the “cockpit table” on an R-23.
Cheers
Karl and Sara

Our 2021 R-23 doesn’t have a cockpit table mount not sure I would find it useful, either. Especially if it used the berth table.
