R23 - dinghy location and type?

Hello all - we are very pleased to enter into the world of Rangers with an R-23 (delivery in ~May), and are curious as to where others have mounted their dinghies. We have an 11 year old, who will of course want weekends with friends on board, and there may be times that the best place for tweens is in the tender (for the sanity of all concerned).

We chose the outboard plus kicker, so swim grid space is at a premium... but would like a 4+ person dinghy, so there are weight considerations with throwing it on the roof. Yes, there is likely a larger boat in our future, but lifestyle window says get on the water NOW!

Thoughts? Solutions? Options? Would love to hear your experience.

You might want to look at a product called kaboat which is an inflatable kayak dinghy. Light narrow and can be kept on the roof. Ok I have a r27 and got a bit more roof 🙂

Do you keep it fully inflated and on roof rack when going from place to place? We are still try to figure out what we want to use as a tender. Currently have some inflatable paddle boards. Good for warmer days. No so good when it's cold.

Yes that's the idea. The weight around 50lbs should make it manageable

Thanks for the suggestion - it does look interesting! We'll have to measure it up and see what will work. Just came back from the factory visit - excited to take delivery next month. So many decisions to come...

Lots of different ways to transport.
1.Fits in a fairly small bag
2.With the open transom we can deflate the floor, strap the tubes together and strap to swim platform.

I'm interested to see how it works for you - our transom is a rather busy place, so we're leaning toward a 12' or 14' Kaboat on the roof - we'll just have to measure it up next week and see if 14' would be ridiculously long on a 23' boat.
