R23 Holding Tank Sensor

I have a 2019 R23. I see in the wiring diagram where a 1amp fuse protects a holding tank sensor. But what is it tied to? I dont see a light or gage any where. I saw an old post with a same question....
 
I don’t know why but I don’t think there is a holding tank sensor/monitor on the R-23. My 2018 doesn’t have one. My 21EC had a black tank sensor/ monitor but if there’s one on the 23 I can’t find it. On another issue, the 24/7 fuse box has fuses for 2 CO monitors. I have only one, in the 1/4 berth, but I don’t have an onboard generator so that may be the reason.

I have a 2020 R23. The holding tank sensor is wired to a red light on the bulkhead behind the helm and inside the head. (Just above the little shelf behind the toilet). The light comes on when the holding tank is full.

No such thing on my 2018 R-23. Oh well. I’ll just have to keep a close watch. Could you post a picture of the light?
 
Does anyone know how difficult/easy it would be to add a holding tank sensor?
 
If you have access to the tank you can add a tank level system, sold at every RV supply, Amazon and on-line stores. I'm surprised that FM doesn't have them on there boats. Every camper,motor home has a way to monitor there tank levels. Cost is minimal but I guess when your paying sticker price for a new boat you can't expect too much! Sorry about the sarcasm! Bob

A Level guard tank monitor that only indicates when full is like having a fuel gage that tells you when your out of fuel. They do make a model that shows level in tank. The best for your money is a Sensa Tank Marine Tank Monitor, easy to install. Has a three tank indicator so you can do your holding tank and your fresh water along with another tank (liqueur?) The picture in the previous post appears to be a after market modification. Bob
 
Just bought a 2017 R23 with out any gauge. How to know when the tank is full?
 
Our 2018 R-23 does not have a holding tank gauge/monitor so here’s what we do. We only use Fresh water to flush. We DO NOT use raw water. We keep a gallon jug filled with fresh water by the head and measure the amount of water we use with each use. It’s not perfect but it gives us an idea of when we’ve put about 10 gallons into the holding tank so we know it’s time to empty. Plus by using fresh water instead of raw water we significantly decrease any odor from the raw water line. It works just fine.
 
How does that external sensor work? In other words, how can it “see” if the sensor is not internal?

It uses two vertical foil strips applied to the outside tank. I believe the impedance between the two strips is measured. The impedance of the sewage is different from the empty tank.

If you’ve ever used a stud sensor (not the magnetic kind) it is basically the same technology as I understand it. The stud sensor senses the increased density of the stud behind the wall board. Because black water is denser than air, the foil strips track the increasing density as the tank fills and quantify it as a percentage of total capacity.

Has anyone figured out how to access the holding tank on a R-23?
