R23 inflatable dinghy

Hi All

New to the forum. Does anyone have advice on the best small inflatable dingy for an r23? We will just be using it to get to shore when anchored with a small electric motor.

Takacat inflatble dingy seems to be a very popular choice from what I have seen on the forum.

We have a CW26. Looked at Takacat but didn't like open transom. That led us to TrueKit Navigator 2.5m. It has been a great boat with the Epropusion 1.0.

takacat was great for me as it was super light. I went with PVC and it failed after 5 years outside. I upgraded to the Highfield UL260 in Hypalon. which is a lightweight rib at 8'6" single layer aluminum. its much more seaworthy but slightly heavier. I can still raise this on weaver davits with one hand though. Lifting it onto a roof however would be a no go.

all depends on where you plan on storing it. if you are planning on lifting out of the water by hand and placing on roof/bow you need something very light.

I have 2 dinghy options for my C26 depending on the nature of the trip. I'll mention my Sea Eagle 385fta has worked well as a lightweight, short distance dinghy. I store it on the roof racks fully inflated.

I typically use an inflatable kayak(s) to get to shore because they are lighter and easier to transport. This year, I took a Takacat on a trip and tied just the tubes to the roof while storing the floor and transom. I stored the electric motor on a bracket on the swim step. This system worked ok but still prefer the kayaks because it is much easier.

My current dinghy is a North Atlantic 8.8 with inflatable floor. I lift it with a Garhauer crane. Note the rear cross bar had to be modified to accept the boat’s V shape. I can also stow it in the lazarette if needed.

Smallest dinghy/liferaft I could find: Aquamarine Airdeck GYC230W (7.5'), floor inflatable not hard.
I don't want a sail - nor excess weight - hanging off the back of a C26.
Seawise manual davits; ePropulsion eLite motor. Delighted with both.

Question: I store my TrueKit Navigator 2.5 (8.2 ft) that we store on the top of our C288. This is a pic off of my security cam- do you think that crane you use would work and, if so, where did you mount yours?

I posted some pics in my album. Pls advise if not viewable. The issue with your rig would be the rear mounted radar tower would prevent the dinghy from swinging over the cockpit and onto the roof.
