Hello all R23 owners. We just added a 100 watt solar panel, hooked up to the house batteries. Install went great. Now that my batteries remain topped off and charging at the mooring, how do I use the panel invertor switches. When I slide double switch assembly from shore power down to invertor, then check to make sure ac circuit breaker on, no lights come on letting me know it’s activated, and switched on port or starboard ac outlet switches doesn’t activate them. Am I missing something here? Help is greatly appreciated. Happy Quarantine Boating season!!

Do you have the inverter battery switch in on position ? Is the inverter turned on ? If yes to both questions check the main inline fuse between the battery and battery switch to inverter.

Thanks very much. Invertor double gang switch is on . Breaker ac switch below main panel is on. where is main fuse beyween battery and invertor you mentioned Thank you again

You have the red rotary switch in the port side lazarette, that has to be on. You then need to turn the inverter itself on using the Kisae remote panel in the quarter berth. Then, with the double pole slider set to inverter you should have power at the outlets. Note that I believe there is also an inline breaker in the lazarette that could be tripped.

Thanks so much i will check this all today and let you know .Grateful for your help!

For what it's worth, the mistake I made with the Kisae remote switch was thinking it was a momentary-on-off switch (meaning to just click it on). But I discovered you have to hold the switch button for 1 second. Then you'll see the light come on, and you'll be good to go.

Same goes for turning it back off.

Hope this helps, and happy boating!

Thanks Brian! I'm assuming the Kisae switch is the panel below the vertical panel that has the double ganged invertor or shore power slide bar/switches. Thanks!

On the subject of inverters, I’m just curious....what do y’all use the inverter for? I came over from small sailboats and we have become very energy conscious when we cruise. I don’t think I’ve turned it on more than once. We charge the batteries and cook on the Generator, so I was just wondering what the deal is? And does the inverter hurt your batteries?

Personal preference mostly. Some folks have small appliances, fans, lights etc that they want to use and inverter is easy to switch on especially in a situation where you do not need to worry about being energy efficient. For us. If cruising down the ICW the engine is recharging the batteries. So using inverter for a good powerful fan or coffee maker is ok.
But yes, it does draw on the house batteries so you need to be careful when on the hook.

Inverter will not run the AC. I use a Harbor Freight 2000 Watt generator with a 10ga 6' extension cord to the shore power receptacle adapter. A heavy gauge extension cord is the key. The 2000 will run the AC just fine, but nothing else at the same time.

For me, the inverter is very useful for running small appliances or heating up food on the stove while underway. I can defer the noise of the generator in the morning when I enjoy the quiet.

The inverter allows me to make coffee, tea. I can run one burner on the stove for a short time.

I can also run my little ice maker for a bit to make just enough ice for a glass of white wine. Keeps the admiral happy 😀 .

I do have have to run the generator at some point to recharge batteries or to make an elaborate dinner.
