R23 Winterization

This is our first year owning our R-23. Can someone tell me about how much antifreeze (roughly in gallons) we need to winterize the water tank/lines, toilet? Thanks.

Hello Tjiann,

Here at the factory we winterize the boats using a 55 gal drum of RV antifreeze, so it's a little tough to provide an exact number of gallons. I'm estimating for the toilet, raw-water wash-down pump, and black water tank, it would need roughly 5-6 gallons. We typically remove all water from the potable tank (by opening all faucets and turning on the water pump), and then blow out the system using compressed air. This will help cut down the amount of antifreeze needed for this part of the winterization.
