I was just told by my marina that the LOA for the R23 with the Yamaha 200hp + the Yamaha 9.9hp kicker is over 28' and of course they roundup to 29' for cost per length. I was caught by surprise because all the literature I've read tells us that the LOA with the swimstep is 27'8". Did I misinterpret that LOA because it identified the swimstep but not the motors?

Has anyone measured their R23 with outboards to get a true LOA? I would appreciate it if you could share your findings.

Peter

I actually think the LOA with the engines up out of the water is 29' 6". Andrew can you confirm the LOA with engines up?

I went back through my notes and found the one from Andrew where he said the LOA with engines up out of the water is 29' 8".

Thanks for following up Olygirl. I guess my marina's measurements are correct. 🙂

As an aside.... my R-27/OB with motor up measures from bow stem to rear edge (the prop) of the raised engine is just shy of 32 feet. It sits in a 30 -foot slip bow in and with the bow stem touching the dock's lip the raised engine sticks out into the fairway a good 18 inches.

So I can confirm this now that I have measured. Over 29 feet tip of anchor to prop.

Thanks Jim. This is with the engine in the tilted raised position, correct?

That matches what I measured when we looked at a 23. In our 30 ft boathouse we couldn’t fit without major and inconvenient modifications. That and having the head out of the sleeping area were big factors in choosing the R25.

I didn't raise the engine for this measurement which is why I fudged my number a bit 🙂 LOA is over 28 1/2 with the engine down and I know that tilting up increases length hence my statement above.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes more sense to me. I'm planning on keeping the motor in the down position at the dry stack marina I keep it at. But I think they rounded it up to 29' so it is what it is. 🙁
