R25 Bow cleats installation

Yup, finally got'er done. Replaced the bow chocks with 10" cleats on our 25sc. They don't match the Ranger cleats but this style was available with backing plates along with rub plates. Andrew was right about the solid build of the fiberglass up there and along with rub and backing plates, there's a fairly burly sandwich to keep the cleat solid. The underside was a tight access but doable. Difficulty maybe a 7 out of 10. I posted some pics in our modifications album. Yes, our tug is still in storage. Lake level not there yet. 🙁

Same problems, I replaced the factory bow cleat with a mooring bit, some call a Sampson post on the bow. Now I can tie off several lines. See pictures in my album. Looks more nautical, I think and wish the factory installed these on every tug. Mine was custom made by the Klacko Marine.

Samson Post should have been Standard. Much more useful than a cleat.

Chafing gear.

YEP! Another piece of tackle that is under used.

I wonder what the average breaking strength of deck lines...I've seen most that are Old and worn holding some heavy Boats...
