Has Anyone done any removable cockpit seating for a R25.....flip up/down, On the sides or cabin back? Folding Chairs seem to always be in the way and take up way too much room when not in use.

Penny for your thoughts

Thanks

Yes -- another Tugnut posted awhile back with some very useful images of what could and was done for extra seating in the cockpit. If I recall they were semi permanent with some portions that could be removed. I'll see if I can find the OP and photos. I did download the photos when I saw them so I may also have them on my laptop in an archive.... later. 🙂

[Edit] Found them... but they were done on an R27... but suspect they could be done on an R25 as well. I certainly was contemplating such an addition for our R25 but 1st mate was quite happy with our folding chair so I dropped the idea. 🙂 We normally leave the chairs erected in the rear two corners of the cockpit while under way and stow them in the cabin gangway when we leave the boat at the dock. I do agree, they are cumbersome for stowing.

I hope the pictures below spur you into action... 😉

Hi;
We thought about various options to cockpit seating as well, and ended up buying collapsable chairs.. specifically XPRESS LOUNGER™ Telescoping Director's Chair. They come in a neat case, and fold down to a very small package. Putting them up takes about 20 seconds.

Cheers

You can go to YOLO's album and see all the cockpit modifications.

Hoping I did not miss anything.......I am working on the Removable fold up cockpit cushions for our R25, it will seat 4 when finished. I have looked at YOLO. Looks like the 27 would be easier to do than the older R25. The smaller space has made for a real challenge.....every inch has been accounted for.

On another note the GREY WATER system is coming along. With the holding tank installed (starboard cockpit) /plumbed to the BLACK tank and the galley sink whale pump fitted, its time to tie it all together in the bathroom wall. This too has been a challenge in space management and YOGA. You try and fold a 6 ft 220lb man into the galley cabinets and see what happens.

Pics to follow soon.

Tug @ My Heart......your added cockpit seating looks terrific, nice job. Please tell us where we can explore purchasing these or similar seating for our tugs?

Thanks for sharing,

Jim

Came out pretty nice.....I worked with a custom upholster (from Sacramento) for the sewing work and under board plates. I milled the Delren base luff parts (black track for the seat bottom to travel in). The legs are from Garlick...modified of course. The cost was a bit high for just the cockpit, but the finished product came out killer. Total cost was around $2k for the 8 cushion pieces with all the hardware and purchased parts. I spent Days...and Days figuring a way to put seats in the boat.
