What is the standard electronics package with the R25? Anyone get auto pilot? Does the autopilot work well?

The factory package is a Garmin 5212 touchscreen, 4KW Radar dome, GPS antenna, Depth Sounder and Fish Finder display. The autopilot is also Garmin. It works fine, and has a nice, bright display.

The Garmin Autopilot works fine -- I love the Shadow Drive feature. Add the Vision g2 SD card and things just get better although as Bruce Moore and I've discussed, the screen refresh slows down a tad -- but that can be mitigated by turning down/off some of the g2 features that require dragging too much data from the card or rendering on the screen. Would be nice if Garmin incorporated a higher performing video chip/memory etc.

I have a newly purchased R25 that has no navigation electronics... I am comparing all of the main brands.. I find myself returning to the Lowrance HDS 10 with the Broadband radar and sounder more than any other... And this surprises me because I have used Garmin on my planes for decades...

If anyone opts for Broadband Radar, please give us some feedback about these units. This seems like the way of the future, especially for smaller boat installations. (Because I was set on Raymarine, and their smallest radome is 18", my boat looks a little like some sort of AWACS vessel!) :? Alex.
