Hi All

I have a very early 2008 R25.
When I turn on the 'Water Pressure Switch' for the Fresh Water Plumbing system I observe the following:
1) the pump runs
2) no water comes out any faucets
3) we hear water splashing. It sounds like it is coming from behind the refrigerator.
4) I pulled out the heater underneath the helm seat and see standing water.
5) When the pumps runs, the water level raises in the compartment behind the heater, but I can't see a leak around any of the hoses from the view thru the heater hole
6) It appears that the water eventually drains into the bildge area just fine
7) no other compartments on the tug have standing water
8) I have a Norcold refrigerator

Has anyone else run into this scenario?

Thanks,

Kerry and Nancy on Trinity

I diagnosed things a little further.

The brass check valve behind the refrigerator came away from the aft hose. In other words, the forward hose and brass check value are connected, the aft hose is disconnected and still in place behind the refrigerator.

The aft hose appears to be held in place by a loop of plastic or metal which is connected to the hull material behind the refrigerator.

You can just barely get your arm back thru the heater hole to the aft hose.

I'm going to try to push the brass check value back onto the aft hose and cable tie it around the fitting on the check valve. I don't think I can get a screw driver or ratchet wrench back there to work on a clamp without removing the refrigerator. We have a Norcold and it's supposed to be difficult to remove.

Wish me luck.

I also have an early 2008 R25 so our configeration is probably similar. I have had leakage like yours and problems with the check valve not holding pressure (pump cycles when not in use). The leak was easy to fix as one of the hose clamps on the pump was loose. However, I had not able to find the check valve. I thought it was attached to the pump but did not see it. From your discription is sounds like it is separately located on pump discharge hose and must be up behind the frige where I can not see it. There were earlier discussions about check valve fouling due to "powdered plastic" likely left over from original tank installion which had not been flushed from tank. Next time I remove the heater unit below helm I will again attempt to locate the check valve and flush it.

Here's where the Brass Check Valve on our Tug is located:
Pull out the heater under the helm. Look thru the hole aft towards the refrigerator. You will see the wooden housing that goes around the refrigerator. The brass check valve is on the backside of this refrigerator housing, at the bottom of the housing, about as far forward as you can go and still have it hidden by the backside of the housing.
Put another way, if you opened up the refrigerator and could see thru the very bottom left corner of the refrigerator, you would see the valve. With some mirror and flashlight work in the heater hole you will also be able to see the valve.
You can get to the valve if you lay on your back which your head forward and stick your left arm into the heater hole. According to Andrew, if you have a Norcold refrigerator, it's very difficult to pull out, so all your work will be left handed. If you have a Nova Kool it is apparently much more straight-forward to remove. I would remove mine if I could.
