Subject: R25/OB stern hull design for engine platform area?

I've been following another RT members R25/OB build photos and I'm intrigued with the hull's stern area that extended to presumable support the engine platform.

It's unlike I've seen on previous OB RT models. The hull stern area extends out substantially with pontoon-like port and starboard moldings, box-like extensions that the trim tabs are attached to, and what looks like to me, a center located massive box shape with a V-shaped lower bottom on it that supports the engine platform area directly where the engine mounts. There's also a single SS bracing on the port side that presumably offers additional support for the engine platform where the optional kicker motor would be attached.

Can the RT designers for the R25/OB model provide some explanation for this stern hull section design, and what the pontoon-like moldings, box-like molding and the center box with a V-shaped bottom is intended to provide?

Thank you. 🙂

Hello Barry,

The second paragraph I pulled off the website which doesn't really explain the entire thing but, it outlines some of the important features it provides above the water line. The biggest thing I have noticed is when the "pontoons" are extended back, it creates more stability on the boat but, it also helps it get on plane faster and more efficiently than the traditional design. In our waters, we can obtain speed of right around 40MPH and fuel economy right around 2.5MPG at 30MPH. I attribute this to the extended running surface it creates.

"Right away you’ll notice one of the most innovative features of the R-25, our Clear-Path swim platform. The extended swim platform wraps around the outboard to present a clear walkway free of all engine rigging, which opens a whole new world of fishing, cruising, and water-sports opportunities. This exciting new design features heavy duty handrails and allows you to safely and easily board a dinghy, net a fish, step to or from a low dock (important for pets), and med-tie without fear of damaging your outboard and having to leap to the dock."

Thank you very much Andrew... 😀 I have always enjoyed seeing and following the RT's innovative improvements to their RT models. I look forward very much to my 2023 R25/OB late next year. My family is excited, as am I. 🙂
