R25/R27 clearance

Thinking of trading the Tomcat TC255 for a Ranger of some variety. I have a covered boathouse with with limited clearance over the lift. Does any one know what the bridge clearance is with the mast/radar/etc up (I can lower an antenna whip) for the R25/R27? Draft is a consideration also but it looks the same for the 25 and 27, at least in the specs. If I go fast enough in/out of the creek, I'll soon create my own channel... :roll:

The TC draws about 2.5' unless I lift the engines partially up and I rarely have a problem except at an extremely low tide.

Hey, Charlie,
Been wondering when you would come on over, to the other side......all those knowledgeable postings, from a TomCat.
As for the clearance, I measured this carefully with my 2008 R-25, and it was more than the specs I was given. As I remember, the published specs were 12-6 from the waterline to the top of the radar mast, but I believe mine was 12-8.
When I looked further into it, it turned out that Ranger had used a progression of radar masts. Lately, they have one that folds forward. Mine folded to the side.
So, if you buy a new one, check out the current radar mast fully extended. It can change thru a sequence of boats produced. If you have 13 feet clearance water to overhanging beam, I would say you're safe. Trust, but Verify.

Thanks Charles. I have quite a lot of room under the roof, the supports were cut out in the middle to allow for the TC with the radar on top to go up quite high. I've had water 2' over the top of the pier during ERNESTO in 2006 and ISABEL in 2003. Didn't have the lift then but If I had, I would have had to put it as high as it would go. Probably would take the boat out of the water if I had enough time. I'll have to measure more closely.

No decisions yet, we love the TC with its queen+ sized berth in the bow and the speed when we need it. I do like the Tug Look however of the Rangers, always have. And us Brats miss Jeff Messmer, don't suppose you'd let us have him back would you? Oh, and Andrew too!! :shock:

Oh, and thanks for the "knowledgeable posting" comment. Guess I fooled another one!

Our R25, Starry Night, was measured at 12' 2" waterborne by laser level on Wednesday evening.

We cleared the Gilmerton Bridge at 15 feet. Sparky was topside forward and reported "about a foot clearance", but that can be very deceptive.
