I'm wrestling with the R25SC vs R27 question that so many have asked before me. I'm familiar withe the R27, and if budget wasn't a concern, this wouldn't be a discussion but as I, like many of us, live in the real world most days...

I've read all the threads and seen all the photos but it's time I see it in person. There's isn't an R25 SC for sale here in Sidney that I can look at so I was hoping a kind local owner would be able to show me theirs.

If you don't mind answering my questions for a bit, I'd be grateful if you could show me around your 25 SC.

DMs appreciated!

Both have the same cockpit area. The R-25 Scrunched Cabin is a nice boat if you don’t need to spend a lot of time in the cabin. The R-27 Classic has much more room in the cabin and a MUCH better galley for cooking. I’d go for an older R-27 over a newer R-25SC if possible with in my budget.
All that said the boat’s condition and maintenance history should be a major factor in your decision.

@scross, thanks for chiming in! Calling it the 'Scrunched Cabin' made me laugh

I've heard the comment about the 27 being "much better for cooking" several times. We had an Origo alcohol stove on a previous boat and while slow, the simplicity was nice. I really don't know how often we'd use the oven, most of the ovens in boats I've looked at have never been used more than once or twice. I think with a good BBQ on the rail and the diesel cooktop, we'd eat just fine.

As a former 13' Boler owner, I'm not bothered by smaller spaces so it's really about whether we'd outgrow the 25 or feel at home with it!
