Good day

I took possession of my R25 OB last week! It has a Webasto diesel heater. Can I use kerosene or should I stay with diesel. Been told that kerosene is the preferred fuel but also difficult sometime to get. Thanks!

You can go with either. Whichever you go with I would use a fuel stabilizer and empty the tank at the end of each season.

So what method would be used to empty the tank with say a few gallons in it ? Syphon it out maybe ? There's really no good way for determining how much fuel is in the tank, unless you fill it up.

IMO... at end of season use stabilizer and fill the tank.

Doesn’t it feed directly from your main diesel tank? Ours does. No issues.

I don't believe so... but it does on the R29 because it has the diesel engine and fuel tank. Note that the R25/OB is gasoline and the Webasto forced air heater runs off diesel, so it has a separate tank for that.

Just saw that the boat is a classic. If it does have a separate tank for the Wabasto I would eliminate the tank and install a pickup tube directly into the fuel tank. It is a fairly simple install and there is a spare fitting on the tank to install it. The advantage is you will never have to worry about stale fuel and always have plenty. If you do install the pickup I would not put it all the way down to avoid picking up sludge. On mine I kept it up and knew that if I went below 40 gallons in my 100 gallon tank I would lose prime. The 25 has a smaller tank so yours will be somewhat different depending on how high you put it. I would install it no more that 2/3 from the top of tank.

The member's OP states Clearly the boat is a RT25 OB.

knotflying: Can you provide a link or some evidence BCfisher's OP is referring to a RT Classic model?

His post says R-25 OB, but his profile to the right list model as R-25 classic, Bob

That quite possibly is because there is only "R-25 Classic" and "R-25 SC" that can be selected in a user's Profile settings. There's no option for selecting any of the RT models with OB (for outboard model).

The only option to state clearly the boat model is to enter it in the member's Signature.

The website master needs, and I suggest, is to update the users' Profile preferences to allow all the past and current RT models as selections...... Bruce to the rescue, right ?

Barry is correct. Models not included in the pull down are best displayed in your signature file: User Control Panel > Profile Tab > Edit Signature menu

The proliferation of Fluid Motion models has made the pull down selection difficult to update. It involves remapping selected models to an expanded index which is tough with our constrained resources. 1,000 members and 5 models were easier to manage than 7,000 members and 20+ models.

But, it will get better.

Cheers,

Bruce
