For winterizing as well as spring setup, the thruster battery is virtually inaccessible. Has anyone modified the floor in the R27 portside cockpit-cabinet to be REMOVABLE for better access (It looks to be directly above the Thruster battery). Then you don't have to disconnect 2 House batteries, unscrew their shelf to move all 185lbs. of batteries aft, to disconnect the thruster for winter. I think it looks easy to just cut out a section of the cabinet floor (replace the cut out floor piece to sit on a trim-ledge) to access the thruster battery for seasonal storage.
WHY do this? Leaving a new (1 yr. old) battery Connected -even over our very mild winter here, STILL killed thruster battery.

Confusing reply, please explain: My question was "has anyone found an easier way to access the thruster battery to d/c for storage?" since you can't see, much less get to the battery due to its location.
P.s. what do you mean by "leave the cables in the boat"? Why would anyone ever remove the cables?

I interpreted your post to mean you are removing the battery for winter storage. My response was, You can disconnect the cables from the batteries, be sure to zip time each cable group and tag location to reconnect. You can then just leave the batteries in place and not have to remove them from the boat.
