Greetings,
My brother-in law took the time to see how much room there was in the sleeping area of the mid cabin area at the New England Boat Show. He is just under six feet and called to me to view his problem. It seems you can get in and under the foot area of the above dinette but cannot roll to turn on your side, it is just too tight. The question I have is when the folding seat is removed (completly) can the "bump-out" that it is mounted to also be removed or is it molded into the fiberglass? I thought of moving the sleeping area more toward the rear and build a platform with storage under.

Same issue here. I am 6'3" and I can not turn on my side.

We are currently in the process of having that entire area re-designed for storage. Not cheap.

Will post pictures when the work is done.

I took out the nav seat and moved the sleeping cushion forward. That way a person can easily turn over and it leaves storage. I got a large plastic tub that fits all the way forward and have a line attached so I can pull it forward. I only stuff articles that I use occasionlly into that spot.

We decided that we were not going to use that area for sleeping. There are only two of us. Ranger added two teak hatches just below the dinette and microwave area on the side. This gives us easy access to the area for added storage. We also took the nav. seat out and changed the clothes bar to go front to back for added hanging room. We can also store the dinette cushion there. The nav. seat attachment is molded in to the fiber glass, but it only a couple of inches. We also added a small 3 drawer dresser from Ikea that fits in just behind the dinette seat, $40. It actually fits in just under the seat so we still have the same amount of hanging space. This works for us, but you have to decide if you want to use that space for sleeping.
Have Ranger add the teak hatches before it leaves the factory and you can do whatever modifications later. Adding the hatches later would not be difficult either.
Good luck, you'll love the boat.

Thank you all for your comments. We are going to go through one season before cutting; drilling or changing anything but will keep our eyes on some changes. We have thought about drawers or drawer fronts with hinges to open and drop down to access under the dinette. I like the idea of the platform with storage under with the option of sleeping on top because the dinette may get tight for a couple.
