My 2019 Model schematic for the A/C shows a variable speed fan. However, the A/C fan only runs at one speed no matter from the remote or the C/P.
Question 1A: Is this unique to my boat?
Question 2A: Can I fix this myself?
While installing a small fan for my comfort at the helm (install location on the overhead centerline teak trim), I had thought to use the FAN switch on the Helm 8 switch panel for power. Realizing the fan had it's own variable speed switch, I discarded that notion. However, before that, I traced the FAN switch lines and found the following:
1. Wire at FAN switch is Orange, changing to a Orange-White at a butt splice before the Amphenol Connector. The other side of the connector, the wire changed to Purple-White as per the Factory Schematic.
2. The Purple-White wire is labeled Defroster. The schematic shows this wire feeds two motors.
3. This switch does nothing. I turned it on and heard no fans, felt no air flow.
I figure this is a hold-over from the NW edition, but am not sure about that.
Question 1B: Why did FM use 3 different colored wires for one circuit?
Question 2B: Where does the Purple-White wire go? Is it connected to anything on the Luxury Edition?
Question 3B: Is this related to Problem 1? (3 speed fan only has 1 speed).
Note: While pulling panels to route wires for my new fan I found the Factory drilled a screw through the power line of the center forward cabin light. Scary! Now I'm wondering what else they drilled through!
Don't get me wrong, I love my RT, but the things I've found while pulling things apart make me wonder if FM has ever heard of Quality Assurance!
